Member breweries of the Export Development Program (EDP) are invited to participate in the 2022 London Craft Beer Festival, taking place in London on August 12 & 13.

In addition to the festival presence, the EDP is coordinating an American craft beer tap takeover at multiple craft beer retailers in London for the week of the event.

Brewery representatives are invited to apply for travel reimbursement and to participate in market development activities leading up to the festival.

More information on supplying kegs and/or traveling with the American craft beer delegation is outlined below.


Deadlines

Deadline to apply for travel expense reimbursement: June 16

Brewery Representative Travel & Travel Reimbursement

EDP member brewers that currently export or are considering exporting to the U.K. are strongly encouraged to send a representative to participate in EDP-organized activities at the 2022 show.

Brewery representative presence enhances the impact of promoting American craft beer abroad and provides a valuable opportunity for brewery staff to better understand market opportunities and engage media, trade, and consumers for brand promotion. EDP activity planning is underway and may include but is not limited to:

  • Opportunity to brew a collaboration beer with a London-based craft brewery.
  • Dedicated “Meet the Brewer” tasting at the American Craft Beer booth for the presentation of samples and meetings with importers and other trade.
  • Participation in a beer & food pairing media luncheon in partnership with a local London culinary school
  • American craft beer tap takeover event at one of multiple London craft beer bars featuring American craft beer the week leading up to London Craft Beer Festival.

Travel assistance in the form of expense reimbursement is being made available for brewery representatives traveling to London on a limited basis. Interested brewery staff are asked to complete an online application by June 16. Review and selection of applications will take place on an ongoing basis and will be determined using criteria including the timing of application, number of applicants, and application alignment with the activity’s mission and goals. Update: Due to a high degree of applicants, travel reimbursement applications are now closed.

Breweries sending representatives to attend market development activities are encouraged to send the maximum beer volume suggested below.


Cost

The Brewers Association EDP will cover event registration, booth fees, staffing, airfreight shipping of beer to the U.K., customs clearance, and onsite marketing expenses for EDP member breweries. Participating breweries are asked to cover the cost of delivering samples to the consolidation site in New Jersey or California.


Beer Volume Requirements

Cans and Bottles: Up to three different beers, two to three cases of each beer. No more than six cases total.

Kegs: Up to three kegs. Due to the nature of the activity, only one-way clear plastic kegs can be provided. The EDP is sponsoring tap takeover at multiple craft beer retailers in London. Update: Brewers wishing to have their beers poured at retail venues during the week of the London Craft Beer Festival may now also send Microstar 1/6 Bbl (sixtel) kegs in place of one-way plastic kegs. The Brewers Association will arrange for empty keg recuperation in London with Microstar.

Shipping to Consolidation Warehouses

EDP members have a choice of one of two consolidation points on the east and west coast. Beers are due for consolidation by Friday, July 8 to either the New Jersey and California warehouses.

Mark all cases “BA/UK” or print/affix this pdf.

Cases not labeled properly or arriving after the deadline are not guaranteed inclusion in consolidated shipments to the U.K. It is highly recommended that you ship your beer early due to reports of recurring delays in shipping.
