Brewery Safety Video Courses

This collection of brewery safety videos addresses the need for occupational safety and health (OSH) training in the craft brewing industry. In these short video courses, task-based instruction allows students to relate learning to their specific job tasks. Students will understand how to apply the principles of each specific OSH issue and recognize the hazards in their job tasks. A range of courses address different procedures based on where they are applied throughout the brewing process. Each video course offers a certificate of completion to document safety training.

Each brewery environment is unique. All brewers should conduct periodic hazard analysis in order to establish safety practices that address the challenges found in their brewery. Establishing a sound safety program is an ongoing process that utilizes a vast array of resources and information. The Brewers Association (BA) brewery safety videos should serve as one element in a comprehensive safety training program at your brewery.
The content in this series of short video courses was created through a partnership with Grand Valley State University the BA, and is intended for training purposes only. Material and situations depicted contrary to best practices are included for educational value only.

Training for Beer Service and Sales Staff
This short course is intended to enable people who work adjacent to draught line cleaning operations to develop and practice awareness of safe work practices in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. In addition to receiving a certificate of completion, students will learn how to control safety and health risks surrounding draught beer handling, create a safer and healthier workplace, and foster a workplace culture that accomplishes all the above.

This 2-week short course is intended to enable people who perform or manage draught line cleaning operations to develop and practice a specialized knowledge of safe work practices in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. In addition to receiving a certificate of completion, students will learn how to control safety and health risks surrounding draught beer handling, create a safer and healthier workplace, and foster a workplace culture that accomplishes all the above.

- Interpret a safety data sheet (SDS) to inform methods and materials

Beer Quality Management

This certificate based training program is for brewing industry professionals who oversee and support the production of beer as the brewer intended. Taught by a professional brewer through a production lens, students will identify beer quality risks from brewhouse to package and recognize when and how to intervene. This program will introduce common techniques used to evaluate physical and microbiological properties of beer throughout production and prepare students to make informed choices about practical methodologies, sampling plans, and organizational tools used to develop an overall quality management program specific to their beer quality goals.
