American Brewers Guild
Through a combination of online learning, text books, brewer-instructors on DVD, and one week on-site at our working brewery, students learn professional brewing concepts and acquire skills geared toward working in a commercial brewery or brewpub.
The American Brewers Guild offers two programs: the Craftbrewer’s Apprenticeship (CBA) and the Intensive Brewing Science & Engineering (IBS&E). They follow identical courses of study for the first 22 weeks, then the CBA continues with a five-week apprenticeship.

SUNY Schenectady County Community College
The Associates and Certificate Programs in Craft Beer Brewing prepare students for direct employment in the craft beer brewing industry. Students gain theoretical and hands-on experience related to the craft beer brewing industry, qualifying them to assume a variety of roles in the craft beer brewing profession. Brewing, operations, sales and merchandising, marketing, taproom and event management, distribution, and logistics all are covered thoroughly.

This certificate program will provide students with necessary education and skills to achieve success in myriad positions within the brewing and distilling industries. Hands-on training in the brewing science laboratory will enable students to smoothly transition into an internship program at any number of local breweries or distilleries. UC San Diego Extension
Taught by leading professional brewers and other industry experts, the UC San Diego Extension Brewing Certificate is a part-time, evening and weekend program that offers academic and practical training for brewing professionals. The certificate can be completed in 12-18 months within a 5 year span. All elective courses, with the exception of the Brewing Internship, are open to the public. An application and prerequisite coursework are not required to enroll in any elective course.

This mostly online Brewing Laboratory Science Certificate Program focuses on laboratory science practices that maintain quality control and assurance for brewing. Learn what it takes to work as a brewer and a brewery lab scientist on our 7 Bbl on-campus brewery. Students conduct tests to ensure correct alcohol content, color, flavor, carbon dioxide, and other variables. Apply methods that maintain consistency between batches, contain costs and allow for sustainable production practices.
