The Brewers Association (BA) safety subcommittee has recently added two new members–Corey Parker of Left Hand Brewing Company and Mike Owens of FormPak Inc.

Corey Parker is a professional health and life safety coordinator who has a strong passion for craft beer. Corey received his degree in emergency management and planning and spent several years working as an EMT and firefighter before pursuing a career in industrial safety. Expert knowledge of workplace safety and a love for beer created the perfect opportunity for Corey to put his skills and experience to work in the rapidly growing world of craft beer.

Mike Owens is owner and president at FormPak, Inc., a manufacturer of bulk bag (Super Sack) handling equipment. Mike serves as a board member, and former president, at FIBCA (Flexible Intermediate Bulk Container Association) and chaired the safety committee for that organization.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to serve the greater brewing community on the BA safety subcommittee,” said Owens. “My previous work in non-profit groups and my own company have reaped measurable benefits in educating and executing safe practices in the workplace. Everyone deserves to work in a safe environment, and go home every day without injury or worry.”

The BA safety subcommittee works to increase safety awareness of Brewers Association members with the goals of minimizing risk and preventing harm to people, products, and facilities. Members of the BA safety subcommittee are Ken Anderson, David Currier, Jeff Fanno, Reva Golden (Co-Chair), Brian Grossman, Ian Hughes, Tony McCrimmon, Mike Owens, Corey Parker, Chris Shields, Matt Stinchfield (Co-Chair), Kevin Walter and Brewers Association staff members Paul Gatza, Bob Pease, Chuck Skypeck and Chris Swersey.
