The Georgia Department of Revenue (DoR) has altered its interpretation of provisions in Senate Bill 63 (effective July 1) governing tours offered by brewers. Initially, DoR ruled that brewers could offer a variety of tours at different price points, with the variable prices reflecting differences in what was provided on the tour. Brewers had absolute discretion to decide what was included in the price of a tour. Now DoR has issued a Policy Bulletin stating that the basis for varying fees may not be due to differences in the volume or market value of alcohol provided to tour attendees which has elicited this response from the Georgia Craft Brewers Guild.
