Brewers Association CEO Bob Pease was invited to testify before the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy, and Consumer Rights at a hearing entitled “Ensuring Competition Remains on Tap: The AB InBev/SABMiller Merger and the State of Competition in the Beer Industry.” Pease’s testimony highlighted concerns with how the proposed merger of the world’s two largest beer producers would impact small and independent brewers, particularly regarding access to market considering ABI’s ownership of wholesalers and in light of ABI’s recently announced financial assistance and incentive program benefitting wholesalers who focus primarily on ABI brands.
