Reva Golden, health, environmental and safety specialist at the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research has been named as co-chair of the Brewers Association (BA) safety subcommittee. Golden will provide additional leadership for the very active subcommittee, sharing duties with co-chair Matt Stinchfield, recently named BA safety ambassador.

Golden entered the brewing industry as a quality control sampling technician at Coors Brewing Company. After attending the American Brewers Guild and working in a number of craft breweries, Reva turned her focus from beer quality and production to worker health and safety. Recently graduated from Colorado State University, earning a Master’s of Science in Industrial Hygiene, Golden is a charter member of the BA safety subcommittee.

“As co-chair of the BA safety subcommittee, I’d like to help strengthen brewery safety culture and awareness,” said Golden. “It is important to provide the brewing community with the resources they need to minimize risk and prevent harm to people, products and facilities.”

Brewers Association safety subcommittee recently published Best Management Practice for the Management of Confined Spaces in Breweries, Best Management Practice for the Selection of Protective Clothing for Brewery Workers and the Safety Exchange, which answers to questions addressing common issues surrounding brewery safety.
