What’s your current position at your brewery, and how did you get started in the craft brewing industry?
My current position is senior QA specialist at New Belgium Brewing in Fort Collins, Colo. I am involved with QA in all aspects of the brewery as I work cross-departmentally with almost every area of production. My focus and passion have always been fermentation science, but I love troubleshooting brewing and packaging issues, especially at NBB where people are so good at their jobs.

What’s new at New Belgium?
Lots of different beer styles and maybe even some that aren’t exactly beer.

What’s the best part of being a part of the craft brewing community?
The beer and the people. Anytime you are lucky enough to work in an industry where people are passionate about what they do and great beer is the outcome, what more could you ask for?

Name a favorite food and beer pairing.
Spicy Thai food with a Pilsner, or IPA with ribs and brisket (really IPA with anything!).

What’s your biggest accomplishment unrelated to your job?
Number one is my kids and family.

What’s your favorite beer from another brewery?
Orval. Always has been.

What do you like to do in your time away from the brewery?
Hang out with my family, hike, bike, paddleboard, camp, and go to Rockies games.

What’s the most memorable travel destination at which you’ve had a chance to sample the local beer?
Germany, specifically Weihenstephan. Walking under the arch that says 1040 and having the best weissbier in the world was something I will never forget.
