What’s your current position at your brewery, and how did you get started in the craft brewing industry?
I’m the owner/brewer of Pareidolia Brewing Co. in Sebastian, Fla. My wife, Lynn, and I run the daily operations of our brewpub including brewing, kitchen management, marketing, and public relations. I started homebrewing in California in the early 90s.
What’s new at Pareidolia Brewing?
We are about to celebrate our two-year anniversary as the first and only brewery in town. We are working on plans for a larger brewing location and tasting room in the next year.
What’s the best part of being a part of the craft brewing community?
Without a doubt, we’ve met some of the most welcoming, friendly people on earth in the craft community. Every one of them is willing to help out or just share a laugh.
Name a favorite food and beer pairing.
Locally made organic shrimp dip with our Oh Yeah IPA to add a little citrusy zing!
What’s your biggest accomplishment unrelated to your job?
Well, it’s associated with my job, but we have raised or helped raise thousands of dollars for local charities since we opened our brewpub. It’s great to give back to a community that supports what you do.
What’s your favorite beer that your brewery does not produce?
Terrapin Wake-n-Bake is mighty good.
What’s the most memorable travel destination at which you’ve had a chance to sample the local beer?
I recently traveled to Nashville for the inaugural Southern Brewers Conference with a few fellow brewers. We sampled a lot of local flavor and everyone we met had a smile and directed us the next brewery we should try before heading home. Great sense of a tight brewing community.
What do you like to do in your time away from the brewery?
Paddleboard, surf, and relax with friends and family.
