What’s your current position at your brewery, and how did you get started in the craft brewing industry?

I’m a partner and production manager at Fretboard Brewing Co. in Blue Ash, Ohio. I started as a homebrewer in 2000 and followed my dream as head brewer at Listermann/Triple Digit Brewing Co. in Cincinnati, followed by co-founder and head brewer at Taft’s Ale House in Cincinnati. In 2017, I established KDM Brewing Solutions LLC, a brewery consulting company.

What’s new at Fretboard?

We recently released Mellowship India Session Pilsner. In addition, our Fretboard Vlad won a World Beer Cup silver medal for International-Style Pilsener.

What’s the best part of being a part of the craft brewing community?

The art of creation, and the relationships I have made over the years all around the country.

Name a favorite food and beer pairing.

Smoked brisket paired with Trey Amber.

What’s your biggest accomplishment unrelated to your job?

Raising my two boys, Jack and Chase.

What’s your favorite beer that your brewery does not produce?

I wouldn’t be where I am today without my first sip of Sam Adams Boston Lager and Christian Moerlein Honey Almond Lager back in 1997.

What’s the most memorable travel destination at which you’ve had a chance to sample the local beer?

Munich and Austria, the beer meccas for me. The tradition and brewing techniques are out of this world.

What do you like to do in your time away from the brewery?

Spend time with my wife and kids at our lake house.
