What’s your current position at your brewery, and how did you get started in the craft brewing industry?
Currently I am one of two brewers at Brioux City, a brewpub located at historic Marty’s Tap in Sioux City, Iowa. I also handle the ordering, social media marketing, and creative direction for the brand. I got started homebrewing about 15 years ago and it led me and co-founder Matt Hubert to what Brioux City is today.
What’s new at Sioux City?
Since we are a small nanobrewery we are always rolling out new ideas. We are hoping to add onto our location to increase production in the near future.
What’s the best part of being a part of the craft brewing community?
Craft beer has brought a lot of new friends and faces to us and to Sioux City. With only four breweries in the area, we feel that keeping it a tight-knit brew family is the best way to help us all succeed.
Name a favorite food and beer pairing.
A ribeye steak and a good, thick stout are amazing together!
What’s your biggest accomplishment unrelated to your job?
My three kids.
What’s your favorite beer from another brewery?
I really like Neon NEIPA from Barn Town Brewing in Des Moines right now.
What do you like to do in your time away from the brewery?
Play, promote, and produce music.
What’s the most memorable travel destination at which you’ve had a chance to sample the local beer?
I went to Ireland in 2018 and was blown away. People assume it’s just Guinness but there was a lot of locally crafted beer in each county that the locals were very proud of.
