What’s your current position at your brewery, and how did you get started in the craft brewing industry?
I am one of the founders and the Chief Brand Officer for Denizens Brewing Co. We opened our doors at our first location in Silver Spring, Md. in 2014 after changing state laws to create a new business model in the state of Maryland. Since then we opened a larger production facility and restaurant/taproom in 2019 to expand our distribution around Maryland, D.C., and Virginia. I got into craft beer when I started homebrewing in the early to mid 2000s. I fell in love with beer and the community that goes along with it.

What’s new at Denizens?
We recently launched our Hard Seltzer line (MoCo Hard Seltzer), which has been a really fun addition to our line up. We have also been putting out a series of small batch limited release bottles to coincide with our core lineup. I love the creativity that comes with the beer community and makes the work so much fun.

Name a favorite food and beer pairing.
Cheeseburger and Czech Pilsner.

What’s your biggest accomplishment unrelated to your job?
I don’t know if I would call this an accomplishment so much as an experience. I unsuccessfully ran for Lieutenant Governor of Maryland in 2018.

What’s your favorite beer from another brewery?
I have always enjoyed Little Brett by Allagash Brewing Company.

What do you like to do in your time away from the brewery?
I love hanging out with my family, and I am lucky enough to live in my hometown where I get to see them regularly. I also enjoy playing soccer in some rec leagues, as well as playing golf whenever I can.

What’s the most memorable travel destination at which you’ve had a chance to sample the local beer?
TBD
