The Brewers Association (BA) recently filed comments on Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) Notice 216, Consideration of Updates to Trade Practice Regulations, along with a letter of support for those comments signed by forty six state and the District of Columbia brewers trade associations.
Recognizing that current trade practice regulations may not accurately reflect today’s marketplace realties, TTB solicited public comment on the need to update a number of regulations intended to ensure a level playing field among competitive businesses. Issues addressed in the BA comments include category management and the influence of “category captains,” a number of issues related to the e-commerce marketplace, the many challenges small producers face in getting their products into event venues like sports stadiums and concert arenas, and other market access issues.
