The U.S. Department of the Treasury, in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission, released its report on competition in the markets for beer, wine, and spirits. The report addresses challenges to the growth of small businesses and new entrants into the marketplace and contains a series of recommendations to better level the playing field by enforcing existing laws that promote competition and modernizing outdated alcohol regulations. In a statement, the Brewers Association applauded the report’s focus and recommendations and stands ready to be continuing resource in the effort to translate the report’s recommendations into a safe, competitive, and modern beverage alcohol market.
