The House Small Brewers Caucus, now composed of 49 Members of Congress, held an educational meeting prior to the Celebrating American Craft Beer reception on June 2. Both Caucus co-chairs (Congressmen DeFazio and Rehberg) spoke briefly and BA President Charlie Papazian and Board members Sam Calagione (Dogfish Head Craft Brewery) and Greg Koch (Stone Brewing Co.) were featured speakers on the challenges facing small brewers in the current economic and legislative climate. Greg and Sam also spoke about beer tasting and appreciation as a lead in to the reception. 60 Congressional staffers attended, along with about a dozen BA brewery members and staff.
