Consumer Groups Sue Treasury Department on Mandatory Alcohol Labeling

The Center for Science in the Public Interest, the Consumer Federation of America, and the National Consumers League have filed suit in U.S. District Court seeking to compel the U.S. Department of Treasury and the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau to act on a 2003 petition calling for mandatory alcohol labeling which would require the “same basic transparency consumers expect in foods,” i.e., alcohol content, calorie, and ingredient Information, including ingredients that can cause allergic reactions.
