Pennsylvania Congressman Jim Gerlach (R) dropped by Iron Hill Brewery in Phoenixville to promote The Small Brewer Reinvestment and Expanding Workforce Act (Small BREW Act) last week. Gerlach told the Phoenixville Patch that the bill would, “stimulate economic activity,” and create jobs in the craft brewing segment which saw 11 percent growth in 2010 [See more craft brewers statistics].

Representative Gerlach met with Mark Edelson, Director of Brewery Operations, and Member of the Brewers Association’s Board of Directors, who estimated that nearly 100 jobs will be created when the award winning craft brewer opens its ninth location in late 2011. Fellow craft brewer, Pete Giannopoulos of Sly Fox Brewing also stopped by Iron Hill to meet with the Congressman. Both brewers were in support of the bill which currently has 22 bi-partisan co-sponsors and has been referred to the House Ways & Means Committee.
