The California Secretary of State’s office announced that a proposed ballot initiative to lower the minimum legal drinking age in California from 21 to 18 has been cleared for the collection of petition signatures. In order to qualify for the November 2016 ballot, the signatures of 365,880 registered voters (five percent of the total votes cast for Governor in the November 2014 general election) must be collected by April 26, 2016.
