What’s your current position at your brewery, and how did you get started in the craft brewing industry?

I am a brewer/cellarman/co-owner at Good News Brewing [in O’Fallon, Mo.]. I started as a homebrewer with friends’now my business partners’and we continued to grow until we made the leap to commercial.

What’s new at Good News Brewing?

We are a new brewery, so something is always new! Every day, we create.

What’s the best part of being a part of the craft brewing community?

Collaboration. I live and work in a community with a lot of new and established breweries and look to them for advice and help as much as possible. As small as we are, we don’t have the room for luxuries and some necessities, like a keg washer.

Name a favorite food and beer pairing.

A clean lager with chips and salsa.

What’s your biggest accomplishment unrelated to your job?

My wife and I had a baby girl about a year ago. It’s been the greatest experience of my life so far. I will say that raising a child to not grow up like I did will be my greatest non-work-related accomplishment!

What’s your favorite beer that your brewery does not produce?

I almost never buy the same beer twice. I usually get something I haven’t tried, or a seasonal or limited release. The last one I really enjoyed was Evil Twin Lost Souls.

What’s the most memorable travel destination at which you’ve had a chance to sample the local beer?

Las Vegas. I had a chance to try a lot of beer not available in the Midwest, and it was pretty good, too!

What do you like to do in your time away from the brewery?

Spend as much time with my wife and baby as possible. I’m still working full-time away from the brewery right now, so free time is precious.
