In October 2009, the Brewers Association’s Export Development Program visited the Toronto market to host a multi-course American Craft Beer paired dinner in cooperation with the beerbistro, www.beerbistro.com a restaurant known for its emphasis on pairing fine beer and food.

The Brewers Association Export Development Program worked with Canadian food and beer expert Stephen Beaumont and the beerbistro to create a beer paired dinner that highlighted the flavor, quality and diversity of American Craft Beer.  Each course featured a unique dish paired with a US Craft Beer to highlight the flavor and diversity of beers offered by America’s craft brewing community.  All beers featured in the dinner are currently available on the Liquor Control Board of Ontario’s general list. The LCBO has been a supporter of American Craft Beer and has recently been adding brands to its portfolio.

Representatives from the American Craft Breweries whose beers were featured in the dinner and are currently available in Ontario were on hand to talk about their beers and their backgrounds.  The following representatives were at the dinner: Sebbie Buhler of Rogue Ales, Bill Covaleski of Victory Brewing Co, Russ Klisch of Lake Front Brewery, Mike Turriff of Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales and Adin Wener of the Boston Beer Co. Mark Snyder was in attendance from the Brewers Association and was the evening’s host.

The main objective with this event was to support brands now carried by the LCBO and to generate media coverage that would benefit sales for these brands in the market.  The guests included a strong list of media contacts, licensees, importers and other trade officials.
