What’s your current position at your brewery, and how did you get started in the craft brewing industry?

I’m the retail manager and tour guide for Mayflower Brewing Co. [in Plymouth, Mass.]. I have always been interested in the craft beer industry and going to different breweries. I became interested in working in the industry after going to a tasting for Mayflower Brewing and falling in love with the beer. I decided it was time to get out of my corporate management job and get a job that I could love.  It was an awakening of sorts for me!

What’s new at Mayflower?

We are currently working on our next seasonal brew and prepping to do our annual Cooper’s Series brew [Thanksgiving Ale]. We also recently launched our online store. We also just went to our third state in July!  We are now in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire.

What’s the best part of being a part of the craft brewing community?

I love talking about our brewery and our craft to people who also love craft beer or don’t know much about it and introducing them to it.  Also, getting to try all different varieties of beer.

What do you like to do in your time away from the brewery?

I am not sure what that is! But I guess it would include drinking beer, being around friends, and traveling.

What’s your favorite food and beer pairing?

Mayflower Porter with bacon and eggs…so good!

What’s your biggest accomplishment unrelated to your job?

Traveling to all seven continents before I turned 30 and having a beer on each one!

What’s your favorite beer that your brewery does not produce?

I love red ales.  We do a hoppy red ale in the spring call Spring Hop.  But a traditional red is great.

What’s the most memorable travel destination at which you’ve had a chance to sample the local beer?

Belgium! I hit up some very small breweries while I was there and had a great time chatting with the local craft beer community.
