What’s your current position at your brewery?

I’m the owner of Cigar City Brewing in Tampa, Fla.

What’s new at Cigar City?

We recently won a gold medal at GABF [in Wood and Barrel Aged Beer] in our first year attending. Seven months after opening, we are undergoing a first expansion, doubling our fermentation capacity.

What’s the best part of being a part of the craft brewing community?

The people you meet and the feeling that you are never really working even if you are covered in sweat and coated in grime.

What do you like to do in your time away from the brewery?

Visit other breweries! Spend time with my wife and kids.

What’s your favorite food and beer pairing?

Picadillo [a traditional Latin American dish made with ground meat, tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, garlic and spices] and Brown Ale.

What’s your biggest accomplishment unrelated to your job?

Raising my kids.

What’s your favorite beer that your brewery does not produce?

Hard to pick one. Anchor Porter, Left Hand Milk Stout and Goose Island Bourbon County Stout are all up there.

What’s the most exotic travel destination at which you’ve had a chance to sample the local beer?

The island of Malta. Not the most diverse of beer locales, but the scenery makes up for it.
