What’s your current position at your brewery, and how did you get started in the craft brewing industry?

I oversee the brewery and taproom operations at Millwood Brewing Company in Spokane, Wash. I’m currently behind the scenes driving marketing, events, partnerships, and strategies.

What’s new at Millwood Brewing?

The Science Lab has our brewers working on a weekly experiment that we introduce in the taproom. Our team is continuing to push the taste bud limits.

What’s the best part of being a part of the craft brewing community?

Working together to drive common goals is one of the greatest aspects of the independent brewing community.

Name a favorite food and beer pairing.

Anything smoked on a grill paired with a Pale is pretty delicious.

What’s your biggest accomplishment unrelated to your job?

Being a serial entrepreneur all my life, I have had many failures and successes. Several years ago, I lost everything and had $50 in the bank—a low point in my life. I used that experience to drive my way back to the top 1 percent earners. Never giving up and surrounding myself with those I aspire to be like are what I consider to be tremendous accomplishments.

What’s your favorite beer that your brewery does not produce?

Coconut porter.

What’s the most memorable travel destination at which you’ve had a chance to sample the local beer?

Pelican Brewing on the Oregon coast. Simply the view, the smells of the ocean, and having a fresh craft beer that was produced at that very spot was an awesome experience.

What do you like to do in your time away from the brewery?

I’m a mountain junkie. Skiing in the winter and riding mountain bikes and fly fishing the rest of the year are favorite activities. Hanging with family, especially grandkids, is a blast!
