National Honey Board’s Annual Honey Beer Competition

The National Honey Board is in search of the best made-with-honey beers in the nation for its annual Honey Beer Competition. Online registration is due Friday, July 26. The Honey Beer Competition is judged by Beer Judge Certification Program judges and features 13 beer-style categories, a cider category, a hard seltzer category and a design category.

Last year, more than 300 made-with-honey beers competed in an array of beer style categories and for Best of Show honors. When the judging was complete, Deschutes Brewery Portland Public House’s Hachimitsu Mai, a rice lager brewed with Chilean Ulmo honey, won top spot. Hachimitsu Mai also took home gold at this year’s World Beer Cup in the Honey Beer Category.

This year’s entries must be submitted by Friday, July 26. The competition is limited to 300 entries, and each entry must be commercially available in the United States. Breweries may submit multiple entries per category, but each beer may only be entered in one category. To register, visit honeybeercompetition.com.
