OMAHA, NE. February 5, 2024 – Omaha’s new pro volleyball team is getting their own beer, just in time for their first volleyball season. The Omaha Supernovas teamed up with Nebraska brewery Empyrean Brewing Co.® on California Common Ale. The light-bodied, candy-citrus-flavored beer will be a popular drink of choice for fans attending games at the CHI Health Center Arena.
Omaha Supernovas California Common Ale will also be sold in 4-pack cans at many retailers in Omaha, including Hy-Vee, Wall to Wall Wine and Spirits and Beer, Wine, and Spirits.
The Supernovas kicked off their first-ever pro volleyball season at home on Wednesday, January 24 against the Atlanta Vibe. On Wednesday, February 7, they play their next game at home against the Vegas Thrill, with the season continuing through mid-May. Established in 2022, the growing Pro Volleyball Federation boasts 7 teams nationwide, with more arriving in 2025.
Ben Matya, sales and marketing manager at Empyrean Brewing Co.® said, “This chance to partner with the Omaha Supernovas was an opportunity we couldn’t pass up. Volleyball fans in Nebraska are like no other, and we desire to get behind that and help promote this awesome pro women’s team in any way we can. As a local brewery, our ties to Omaha are strong, and we’re very excited to represent them through our beer.”
The Omaha Supernovas name and brand is a nod to Nebraska’s stars that light up the night. Super stars, or supernovas, are among the bright and shining few. Just like those rare, radiant bodies, the Supernovas are a rare group of world-class female athletes. They inspire the next generation to make history by reaching new heights and breaking barriers in women’s sports.
Empyrean Brewing Co.® has expanded into nine states since becoming Nebraska’s first brewpub in 1990. Empyrean currently offers nine core beers available year-round, a line of seasonal beers and a host of specialty and limited-release beers. To learn more, visit empyreanbrewingco.com.
