This is the second Good Beer Week, the first in 2011 and this year over 100 events around Melbourne and Victoria from small to huge, from breakfasts, to dinners to beer and chocolate to tours to master classes. The festival is a not-for-profit organizations run by a small team of volunteers, whose aim is to be a platform for anyone from anywhere involved in good beer to show what they do to Australians and visitors for the week. Their main focus is promoting better beer to consumers and increasing awareness, by partnering with industry bodies, such as the fledgling Craft Beer Industry Association.

The BA Export Development Program plans to host a private reception where only American craft beer is featured and an American craft beer paired lunch for members of the Media and key decision makers in the trade. These activities will provide excellent exposure for American craft beers in general and, in particular, for brands already in Australia.

We will also participate in the 2012 Australian International Beer Awards, consumer tasting event – World of Beer, Tastings between 4pm & 8pm on Friday, May 18th, to be held at Federation Square in the Melbourne Central Business District.  Which many of our EDP members participated by sending beers for the Australian International Beer Awards competition through the BA EDP.

Good Beer Week 2012 features more than 90 events at venues across Melbourne and Victoria from May 12 to 19. Hundreds of the finest beers from across the world will be pouring at bars, restaurants, breweries and bottle shops as well as wineries, chocolatiers, cocktail bars – even the Royal Exhibition Building – as scores of brewers from across Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the States join beer lovers old and new for eight days of festivities.
