What’s your current position at your brewery, and how did you get started in the craft brewing industry?

I am the minister of operations, or COO in normal business parlance, at Brew Republic Bierwerks in Woodbridge, Va. I began my beer journey nearly 15 years ago with a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and never looked back. My wife and I have been homebrewing in our garage since 2007. After 15 years of Army and DoD work, I traded in government work for brewery work.

What’s new at Brew Republic?

We are rolling out new experimental beers every Monday and seasonal rotators each month. Distribution is growing across NOVA and DC, and our taproom events continue to entertain the masses, including the newest sensation in town: Radio Bingo every Thursday night at 7 p.m.

What’s the best part of being a part of the craft brewing community?

Collaboration, meeting friendly new people, and great beer!

Name a favorite food and beer pairing.

I love Thanksgiving, and there is nothing better than a big-bodied Belgian quad with turkey dinner.

What’s your biggest accomplishment unrelated to your job?

I have somehow managed to raise three moderately well-behaved girls, who I grow prouder of every day.

What’s your favorite beer that your brewery does not produce?

Westy 12, Pliny the Elder, and Heady Topper.

What’s the most memorable travel destination at which you’ve had a chance to sample the local beer?

I had an awesome experience at NOLA Brewing Co. in New Orleans. Their beer was terrific and the atmosphere was laid-back and awesome.

What do you like to do in your time away from the brewery?

What time away from the brewery?
