What’s your current position at your brewery, and how did you get started in the craft brewing industry?

I am president and head brewer at Common Bond Brewers in Montgomery, Ala. I was homebrewing and had won a couple of awards for recipes I had brewed. I lived in a city that did not have a production brewery and taproom, so I decided to take it upon myself to bring that type of space/venue to the city of Montgomery.

What’s new at Common Bond?

Everything. We have been open for four months.

What’s the best part of being a part of the craft brewing community?

The beer.

Name a favorite food and beer pairing.

Our Ramber (rye amber) paired with a classic gyro with tzatziki sauce.

What’s your biggest accomplishment unrelated to your job?

I was able to be part of the medical staff for a World Series-winning organization.

What’s your favorite beer that your brewery does not produce?

Dogfish Head India Brown Ale.

What’s the most memorable travel destination at which you’ve had a chance to sample the local beer?

Dogfish Head Craft Brewery in Milton, Del. I grew up 10 miles from the brewery but moved away after high school. Every time I go back to visit family, I am amazed at how it still feels like home.

What do you like to do in your time away from the brewery?

Play baseball with my son.
