Brewers Association CEO Honored Alongside Industry Colleague for Unifying Efforts

Boulder, CO • December 4, 2015—Bob Pease, chief executive officer of the Brewers Association—the not-for-profit trade association dedicated to small and independent American brewers—has been named co-winner of Brewbound’s Person of the Year award. Pease shared the recognition with Jim McGreevy, president and chief executive officer of the Beer Institute, for their co-efforts bringing the beer industry together around the Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act.

“We can all agree now is the time to help this industry and the economy. Together with the Beer Institute, the brewing community as a whole will continue our efforts to recalibrate the federal excise tax.”

Under the direction of Pease and McGreevy, the Brewers Association and Beer Institute have been working closely together to pass the bipartisan legislation, which was introduced in the Senate by Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) and the House by Representatives Erik Paulsen (R-MN) and Ron Kind (D-WI). The comprehensive bill provides fair and equitable reform of the federal excise tax on beer. If enacted, the Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act will provide much needed tax relief to all brewers and beer importers, fostering economic development and job growth in the country.

“This accolade means a lot coming from Brewbound, especially given how important the tax issue is to small and independent brewers across the country,” said Pease. “We can all agree now is the time to help this industry and the economy. Together with the Beer Institute, the brewing community as a whole will continue our efforts to recalibrate the federal excise tax.”

Brewbound is dedicated to covering the rapidly evolving craft beer industry. Their annual awards program seeks to recognize the business initiatives of brewers across the Unites States and rewards companies for their execution of philanthropic, sales and marketing efforts, new products rollouts and more. Winners were announced at Brewbound Session, a full-day leadership conference held on Dec. 3 in San Diego, Calif.
