Quick Take: Injury Rates in Breweries

Now that we’re past July 4th, I believe we’ve officially crossed into the Dog Days of Summer. For many American breweries, summer means more visitors and more consistent production, and so now seems as good a time as any to revisit safety.

You can kick back on your patio sipping an iced tea (or un-iced beer) while reviewing the extensive collection of safety resources available to Brewers Association members, but this brief post exists to assess how the industry is doing over time.

Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) injury data doesn’t break out craft from the overall “breweries” category, but since the vast majority of breweries are craft, I hope the following charts will still be useful for our industry.

The short of it is that trends are generally moving in the right direction over the past decade. Let’s take this as our regular reminder to keep that trend going.
