Last week, the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) announced they are expanding their pilot program to test new streamlined tax forms for breweries. Based on feedback they received to make tax filing easier, they created the Tax Simplification initiative to update operational reports and excise tax returns.

Working in phases, and beginning with breweries, they are designing new forms that combine the excise tax return and the specific operational report(s) filed by each business type. Wineries and distilleries will be introduced in future phases. If adopted, the new forms are expected to simplify the filing process.

An earlier pilot period with a small group of brewers sought feedback which was incorporated into two new forms. The TTB is now ready to expand the next phase of the pilot program to include any breweries interested and eligible to participate.
