The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has extended the public comment for its proposed Heat Injury and Illness Prevention rule from December 30, 2024, until Tuesday, January 14, 2025. The Brewers Association (BA) is watching this rulemaking closely, as it could affect brewing and taproom operations for many of our members.

The proposed rule aims to protect indoor and outdoor employees from heat-related illness.

Additionally, OSHA has scheduled a virtual public hearing on the proposed rule for 9:30 a.m. ET on June 16, 2025. It is unclear whether the incoming Trump administration will keep or cancel the informal hearing.

In May, OSHA’s Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health unanimously approved the proposed rule, and OSHA published a draft of the proposed rule on July 2.
