It’s That Time of the Year: Renew Your EDP Membership Today
On behalf of the Export Development Program (EDP) and the Brewers Association, thank you for your support of work to promote American craft beer abroad this past year. In today’s unpredictable global trade environment—shaped by shifting regulations, tariffs, and supply chain disruptions—the EDP helps small and independent craft brewers stay competitive, resilient, and ready to seize new opportunities worldwide. Your participation ensures your brand remains visible, supported, and strategically positioned as international markets evolve.
Our next program year kicked off on September 1, 2025, with another exciting calendar of EDP activities ahead.
USDA Engagement Updates
In mid-July the EDP attended the United States Export Development Council (USAEDC) annual conference in Washington, D.C., where it engaged with members of USDA offices from around the world and discussed challenges and opportunities for U.S. craft beer exports. USADEC is a crucial touch point, fostering strong relationships with the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) staff that support many EDP events, along with gathering valuable updates on the export development grants that fund the EDP. At the conference, the EDP met with FAS officers from China, Taiwan, Thailand, Korea, Japan, and Canada. While the export landscape among these markets varies greatly, conversations were productive and the EDP team is looking forward to implementing the programming ideas and insights it gained at the USAEDC conference at upcoming events around the world.
The other key area of focus at the USAEDC conference was the announcement of new export development grant funding, scheduled to begin in 2027. While concrete details remain scarce at present, the program will operate similarly to the Market Access Program funding that enables much of the EDP annual promotional schedule, and is slated to be funded at a rate of $285 million per year. The EDP looks forward to applying for funding in the spring of 2026, which will bolster marketing programming for American craft beer around the world and stimulate export opportunities on behalf of members. Stay tuned for updates!
Explore Aruba, Bahamas & Dominican Republic Craft Beer Markets
In partnership with the Brewers Association’s Caribbean representative, Strategos Consulting Group, the EDP has developed market research reports covering Aruba, the Bahamas, and the Dominican Republic. The reports gathered important information, including key market data, craft beer market insights, labeling and export requirements, challenges and opportunities, and key trade contacts. Full reports can be found in the Market Research section of the EDP Member Resources area.
The EDP is looking forward to building a more robust presence in the Caribbean on behalf of members in the year ahead.
Flying the Flag for American Craft Beer in the United Kingdom
The London Craft Beer Festival took place July 18-19, welcoming over 20,000 attendees to the Magazine event space in Greenwich, London. The event is the U.K.’s premier craft beer event, making it an important opportunity for U.S. craft brewers looking to connect with beer enthusiasts and trade professionals. A delegation of 14 U.S. brewery representatives traveled to take part in the event. In total, the American Craft Beer pavilion featured 22 member breweries and 56 beers to complement the more than 800 beers from 100 U.K. brewers, and visitors eagerly explored the quality, creativity, and style diversity of America’s small and independent craft breweries.

Accelerating US Craft Beer Momentum in Southeast Asia
The EDP is advancing American craft beer promotional activity across Southeast Asia with targeted trade and consumer touch points designed to convert interest into sustainable growth.
This work builds on the EDP’s expanded presence in the region and the appointment of Beer Asia as the Southeast Asia partner to drive on-the-ground execution.
Following the first shipment of member beers, Chris Roberts and Oliver Woods from Beer Asia launched a series of trade and consumer activations across Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia.
