2012 Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival EDP Winners

The 2012 Stockholm Beer and Whisky Festival (SBWF) competition, one of Europe’s largest trade and consumer shows drew an impressive field of competitors from around the world.  More than 36,500 visitors celebrated the 21st anniversary.   The winners of the 2012 Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival Competition have been announced – congratulations!

This year’s competition had many new European breweries entering great beers, making it very challenging. Yet again the Brewers Association Export Development Program stand at the festival was the most visited and popular. Media attention was great with Ska Brewing Co’s Systembolaget launch October 1st with Modus Hoperandi IPA in a can.

Coverage on TV4’s morning show where Swedish chef Marcus Samuelsson (restaurants in NYC, Chicago, & Sweden) also mentioned the phenomenal growth of US craft breweries and the new era for great beers.

Brewers Association Export Development Program members won 3 awards in 3 different categories at the festival.  This year’s competition had many new European breweries entering.

There were a record number of entries (1500+) in the competition, with 30 Brewers Association Export Development Program members participating by sending over 100 beers for the competition. 

BA EDP members received the following awards:
CATEGORY: Lager, well hopped max 5.9% ABV
Bronze: Organic HUB Lager, Hopworks Urban Brewery

CATEGORY: Porter/Stout 6% and above
Gold: Old Rasputin, North Coast Brewing Co
