The European Beer Star Awards has become one of the international brewing community’s most coveted awards recognizing original, innovative beers. Last year, the European Beer Star Awards reported a record number of competitors with 2,103 beers from 44 different countries. This event represents an outstanding opportunity for breweries to have beers judged against the worlds’ best.

Event Timeline

The European Beer Star Awards Competition judging takes place August 10-11, 2017. Awards will be announced on September 13, 2017 at an award ceremony at Drinktec in Munich. The Brewers Association Export Development Program will also present these awards to brewery representatives at its own ceremony at the 2018 Craft Brewers Conference in Nashville, TN.


The BA will cover the entry cost and a consolidated shipment of beer via air freight from the Brewers Association to Germany for Export Development Program members for up to three brands (bottles and cans only) per brewery.

Breweries can submit more than three brands but will be asked to remit payment for the number of brands submitted beyond three. The fee per additional brand is $225–if you enter more than three brands, you will be invoiced after registration has closed.

Beer Required

Twelve bottles or cans of each brand are needed for the European Beer Star competition. This is for any size container (judging needs 12 containers per entry). If you want to send a full case of 12 oz beers for each entry, this is OK–beers not needed for judging will be used in media interviews and also in beer educational classes by the European Beer Star organizers.

  • 12 containers for all bottle/can sizes:
    • 12 oz bottles/cans – 1/2 case (12 bottles/cans–full case OK)
    • 22 oz / 750 ml bottles = 1 case (12 bottles/cans)

Please ship the beers in the regular cases–we need to tightly pack the pallets, as we are flying them to Germany. If you ship your beers in Styrofoam containers to the BA warehouse, please include the original cardboard case and 6-pack holders. Styrofoam containers will not be shipped to Germany.

Please note, if your beer is a gold prize winner you will be asked to send additional beers for the Consumers’ Favourite–a blind tasting to receive the Consumers’ Favourite Award. This is not mandatory. The BA will also cover the cost of that shipment, but you will be responsible for sending these beers to the BA collection point.

• BA EDP members, do not pay any fees when registering your beers

Note: You will receive label information from the European Beer Star organizers. Please put these on the beer containers before sending them to the BA collection point in New Jersey.

STEP 2: The Export Development Program (EDP) also needs to collect information from you to prepare the shipment. Please fill out the EDP’s form below.
