The Texas Craft Brewers Guild (TCBG) is leading the charge on three separate bills: Senate Bill 1554, known as “Beers For Steers,” would provide a tax credit for brewers who donate spent grain to ranches and farms within 100 miles of the brewery, potentially eliminating their entire annual excise tax bill; Senate Bill 1240, which would allow the transfer of craft beer between two licensed premises; and Senate Bill 246, which would allow for direct-to-consumer shipping of beer to customers in the state. BA staff participated in the TCBG Hill Climb earlier this year, and the response to these bills was overwhelmingly positive from lawmakers in the building.
