Recent agreement-in-principle trade deals with the EU, Japan, and several other nations are beginning to clarify the status of tariffs on good relied upon by craft brewers to run their U.S. manufacturing businesses. Aluminum and steel remain tariffed at 50% under so-called “Section 232” tariffs. “Section 301” tariffs look likely to remain in place on other goods from many other countries, even those that have cut a deal with the United States (e.g., a 15% tariff on most EU goods). The Brewers Association continues to engage in a dialog with the Administration in the hope of securing relief from tariffs imposed on aluminum used to make U.S. can sheet.
