Senator Casey Urges Excise Tax Reform During Brewery Visit

Senator Robert Casey of Pennsylvania recently stopped by East End Brewing Company. During his visit he promoted the Small BREW Act, S. 917, which would provide a federal excise tax reduction for small breweries.

The Senator also toured East End’s zero waste facility, witnessing first hand the brewery’s evolution from 7bbl fermenters to their most recent 40bbl tank acquisitions.

“And while that growth is wonderful, it’s also our number one challenge,” remarked owner Scott Smith. With the proposed legislation, East End would be able to reinvest the savings back in the brewery and pay for about 2/3 of another 40bbl fermenter.
