Assembly Bill 404 was introduced in Nevada and would allow small and independent craft brewers to self-distribute their products from their brewery to up to three wholly-owned taprooms, reauthorize direct-to-consumer shipping of beer and spirits, and allow for certain special event privileges that are currently banned by the state. Pushback from opposition was swift, and the bill was ultimately curtailed by the sponsor. State Government Affairs Director Sam DeWitt and leadership from the Nevada Craft Brewers Association put on a hill climb in Carson City and a well-attended legislative meet and greet with lawmakers and staff. The bill’s final form remains to be seen, but it will contain provisions important to Nevada’s small and independent craft brewers.
