In compliance with a Presidential Executive Order, the TTB has announced plans to shift all transactions involvement payments to electronic means. This will most immediately affect payments from TTB to industry members (very common in non-brewing contexts, such as “drawback” payments to producers of flavorings and extracts). TTB also plans to require excise tax payments, including payment from brewers, to be submitted electronically in the near future. While existing regulations only require EFT payments for large taxpayers (including large brewers), all small brewers should prepare to change their procedures in the coming months to pay the federal excise tax via electronic means.
