The Brewers Association (BA) is pleased to announce that Justin Ainsworth has joined the technical committee after agreeing to represent craft brewers on the Beer Industry Electronic Commerce Coalition (BIECC). Justin joins Matt Moberly, director of business insights for Bell’s Brewery, on the two seats reserved for craft brewery representatives.
Justin Ainsworth is information systems manager at Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., where he has worked since 2003. He oversees all staff and IT functions at both the Chico and Mills River facilities, covering everything from brewing and database software to retail and restaurant systems. He was instrumental in developing the information infrastructure when the North Carolina brewery was designed and built. Justin graduated from California State University, Chico, in 2006, with a BS in Computer Information Systems and a minor in Business Administration.
The BIECC is a working group managed by the National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA) that strives to maximize the beer industry’s role and common interest pertaining to the implementation and utilization of electronic commerce within the three-tier system (nbwa.org/biecc). The participation of Justin and Matt in BIECC activities raises awareness of industry-wide issues for BA members and ensures that craft brewers have a voice at the table. The BA’s involvement with the BIECC has been pertinent with the international push to integrate alcoholic beverages into the Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN).
“As BA-member representatives, Justin and I work with industry partners to ensure that the unique challenges and needs of craft brewers, both large and small, are represented within the BIECC,” added Matt Moberly.
