Jim Kuhr Joins the Brewers Association Engineering Subcommittee

Brewing industry veteran Jim Kuhr is the newest member of the Brewers Association (BA) Engineering Subcommittee. Kuhr brings over three decades of brewing industry experience to his position on the subcommittee.

Jim began his career in 1984 at G Heileman Brewing in Frankenmuth, Michigan where he served as QA tech and brewing supervisor. In 1991 he joined the Matt Brewing Company in Utica, New York as associate brewmaster. Jim became brewmaster in 2001 and director of operations in 2005. During his 28 years at Matt Brewing he oversaw brewing, packaging, maintenance, quality, safety, and product development. Jim served the Master Brewers Association of the Americas (MBAA) in many roles including as president in 2015 to 2016. Jim now lives in Iowa with his wife and is the founder and brewmaster for Catalyst Beverage Consulting.

“The 30-plus years of experience that Jim brings to the subcommittee is a benefit for all BA members,” said Chris McCombs, Engineering Subcommittee chair. “The focus of the subcommittee is on expanding smaller members’ engineering acumen, along with providing practical solutions. Jim’s wide range of experiences will help the subcommittee realize these goals.”
