What’s your current position at your brewery, and how did you get started in the craft brewing industry?

I started Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales with my wife, Laurie, in 2004. With the help of our son, we pretty much did it all. Brewing, bottling, taking out the trash… I brewed professionally for 10 years for other folks before starting Jolly Pumpkin.

What’s new at Jolly Pumpkin?

We’re ordering new tanks and foudres.

What’s the best part of being a part of the craft brewing community?

Camaraderie, good beer, and food!

What do you like to do in your time away from the brewery?

Visit other breweries or places where I can find good beer and food. Stand up paddle board. Sit on a warm beach and stare at the ocean.

What’s your favorite food and beer pairing?

Either tacos and IPA, or pizza with just about any beer.

What’s your biggest accomplishment unrelated to your job?

25+ years of marriage and raising our son.

What’s your favorite beer that your brewery does not produce?

Oh, boy. That’s a tough one. So many great beers out there. It’s easier for me to pick a favorite beer from each brewery!

What’s the most memorable travel destination at which you’ve had a chance to sample the local beer?

Hawaii, Alaska, California
