What’s your current position at your brewery, and how did you get started in the craft brewing industry?

I’m the brewer and owner [at Baerlic Brewing Co. in Portland, Ore.]. My business partner and I wanted to start brewing more of our award-winning beer and providing the public with great tasting craft beer, so we opened a brewery.

What’s new at Baerlic Brewing?

Currently, bottles of our Wood Worker Series: Bourbon Barrel Aged Old Blood and Guts American Barleywine.

What’s the best part of being a part of the craft brewing community?

All of the great friendships created through collaboration and sharing of information.

What do you like to do in your time away from the brewery?

Hiking with my wife, camping, cycling, and gardening.

What’s your favorite food and beer pairing?

Pizza and Pilsner.

What’s your biggest accomplishment unrelated to your job?

I hiked the Kalalau trail in Kauai.

What’s your favorite beer that your brewery does not produce?

I really enjoyed the Molotov Cocktail from Evil Twin Brewing.

What’s the most memorable travel destination at which you’ve had a chance to sample the local beer?

I traveled to California for a big beer tour, from Bear Republic to Linden Street.
