What’s your current position at your brewery, and how did you get started in the craft brewing industry?

I am brewery owner, head brewer, and jack of all trades [at Headwaters Brewing Co. in Waynesville, N.C.]. I started as a homebrewer and it took over my life!

What’s new at Headwaters?

Two new beers. Our Class 5 Rapids IPA is 10.5 percent and made with four hops. We also have our new Big Sky Red Rye for the holidays.

What’s your favorite part of being a part of the craft brewing community?

I love the mutual respect shared between brewers. They are genuine people who work and play hard.

What do you like to do in your time away from the brewery?

When I do get away, I coach my son’s soccer and baseball team.

What’s your favorite food and beer pairing?

Our Heady Eddy Pale Ale and fresh Alaskan salmon.

What’s your biggest accomplishment unrelated to brewing?

My family and marriage.

What’s your favorite beer that your brewery does not produce?

Bell’s Hop Slam.

What’s the most memorable travel destination at which you had a chance to sample the local beer?

The most memorable beer tasting event was at the Chattanooga beer fest on the river with my wife, watching the sun set behind the band playing on the river stage. Awesome.
