What’s your current position, and how did you get started in the craft brewing industry?

I’m the sole proprietor of Women Enjoying Beer, an independent business developed to serve the professional beer community by developing and serving the female beer consumer. There’s a need to authentically and accurately address the huge opportunity for women and brewers to get together much better. Equally important to me is that the beer community is a very informed, engaged, fun, smart and progressive group and I choose to work with this kind of population.

What’s new at Women Enjoying Beer?

Well, WEB is mobile right now! Into the third full month of a cross country trip, everything every day is new: the people, breweries, scenery, and road ahead. New information and “old” information is continually being pursued and captured to help serve the breweries and women.

What’s the best part of being a part of the craft brewing community?

It sounds canned, and it’s absolutely true?the incredibly plugged-in people in the industry and the great non-industry people I meet and talk to invariably make every day a great part. Plus the beer?are you kidding me!?

What do you like to do in your time away from work?

As a sole proprietor, what I do is my life?I’ve chosen it to be that way and love it. To enhance these women and beer “adventures,” I very much enjoy cooking and entertaining with my fine husband and dogs, reading, canning and preserving, downhill skiing, and putzing in my yard (when I have one), working with my tools.

What’s your favorite food and beer pairing?

This is a toughy?I’d say the most surprising one I like to enjoy and introduce people to is a crisp, well-balanced IPA paired with sharp cheddar cheese. It always pleasantly surprises people. I also like just about any Belgian style and appropriate food pairing.

What’s your biggest accomplishment unrelated to your job?

I’m thankful for being healthy and of a positive mindset that has helped me fully engage in life and business.

What’s your favorite beer style?

Depends on what I’m doing and what I’m in the mood for. One favorite style is Sours… oh, and then Belgians…and then there’s refreshing Pales… and then…

What’s the most exotic travel destination at which you’ve had a chance to sample the local beer?

Exotic locale (from where I was living at the time) would be the country of Grenada ?although I had a tough time finding local beer. Germany and Austria have found me quaffing a few local beers as well. Needless to say, anywhere there is good beer to be had, I’d like to try it. And with this trip, we’ve been able to try lots of very good beers in many different exotic American places.
