BrewBakers is a personal craft brewery and bread shop in Huntington Beach, Calif. Owner Dennis Midden provided this profile.

How did you get started in the craft brewing industry?

I got started as a baker who started homebrewing and saw a real relationship between beer and bread that is intertwined throughout history. I decided to bring these two crafts back together through BrewBakers.

What’s new at BrewBakers?

We just opened a warehouse where we plan on doing larger brewing, distribution, canning and more baking. We are also raising money to franchise BrewBakers.

What’s the best part of being a part of the craft brewing community?

This industry is full of great, down-to-earth people who are willing to share and have passion for what they do. Locally our brewery is very community friendly.

What do you like to do in your time away from the brewery?

Visit other breweries, spend time at the beach, spend time with family, and fly small airplanes.

What’s your favorite food and beer pairing?

Beer and bread…duh! We do everything we can at BrewBakers to tie beer and bread together. Most of our breads are made with beer, and we make a great spent grain bread.

What’s your biggest accomplishment unrelated to your job?

My family. I am blessed with three girls and two grandchildren.

What’s your favorite beer that your brewery does not produce?

I love stouts and hoppy ales. Local favorites would be BBC, BJ’s and Stone.

What’s the most exotic travel destination at which you’ve had a chance to sample the local beer?

I’ve been lucky enough to go to Germany where my dad is from and visit a few community breweries. I would love to visit more European breweries.
