What’s your current position at your brewery, and how did you get started in the craft brewing industry?

I am the brewer for Right Brain Brewery in Traverse City, Mich. I started my adventures in the craft brewing industry by experimenting as a homebrewer, trying whatever came to mind.  One of the craft brews that truly inspired me to start experimenting with homebrewing was Longshot Hazelnut Brown Ale.

What’s new at Right Brain?

I’m currently working on a candied chestnut ale, and a Michigan-grown wild rice and maple syrup gluten-free brew.

What’s the best part of being a part of the craft brewing community?

Jumping outside of the box!

What do you like to do in your time away from the brewery?

I enjoy plotting and scheming on how I will take over the world.

What’s your favorite food and beer pairing?

A spicy entree paired with a big fat IPA with a citrus profile.

What’s your biggest accomplishment unrelated to brewing?

Raising my two boys, Sebastian and Elijah.

What’s your favorite beer that your brewery does not produce?

I don’t believe in favorites because there are just too many fantastic beers out there!  It’s way too difficult to pick just one.

What’s the most memorable travel destination at which you’ve had a chance to sample the local beer?

I was very excited to make it to Chicago O’Hare airport and drink a Samuel Adams beer after a long trip through Mexico.  It was good to be back home!
