Beer Industry Electronic Commerce Coalition (BIECC) News

Brewers Association (BA) Technical Committee (TC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Moberly and Travis Morrison as BA representatives to the BIECC.

BIECC is a working group of National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA), engaging brewers and retailers in efforts to leverage technology and streamline beer industry commerce. For many years, craft brewers have been well represented at BIECC by outgoing Chairman Jay Richardson from New Belgium Brewing Company.

BIECC recently transitioned from an advisory and exploratory group to an organization which will provide for electronic transactions between wholesalers and retailers. As the pace of this change accelerates, likely next steps include possible expansion of transactions to the brewer tier as well. This will directly impact the way all brewers large and small do business with wholesalers and retailers.

Travis and Matthew bring complimentary skillsets to BIECC, with information technology and distributor/retailer operations knowledge respectively.

Travis Morrison is the IT Operations Manager for New Belgium Brewing Company. Travis joined New Belgium in 2007 and is currently responsible for managing, implementing and supporting an IT server/network infrastructure to enable company-wide IT applications/solutions.  Travis is focused on strategic IT solutions analysis to further business goals and working cross functionally with departments to improve alignment. Travis holds an MBA for the University of Wyoming and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems from Colorado State University.

Matthew Moberly was born and raised in Juneau, Alaska. He completed a Master's degree in Analytical/Environmental Chemistry from Washington State University in 2001 before moving to Michigan in search of adventure.  He began working first for a large national retailer as a beverage buyer, and in 2004 took an opportunity to join Bell's Brewery, Inc., a regional craft brewery located in Kalamazoo, MI.  While obtaining his MBA from Michigan State University, Matt served as the SE Michigan Territory Manager for Bell's, overseeing all aspects of brewery business within the region.  Since completing his MBA, Matt has taken on the role of National Key Accounts Manager for Bell's, and is working with the Brewery's largest on and off premise retail customers.

Travis and Matthew will continue the tradition of active craft brewer engagement within the industry begun by Jay, and advise BA members via the Technical Committee. Welcome aboard Matthew and Travis.
