EDP Seminars at the 2011 Great American Beer Festival

Ontario Canada Market
Chris Robertson – Director, Spirits and Beer, Liquor Control Board of Ontario will discuss the LCBO’s interest in adding more U.S. craft beers to its seasonal and longer-term product lists. Demand for US craft beers in Ontario is strong. Chris will discuss how that demand feeds into the LCBO’s purchase plans. He will also discuss how the LCBO communicates with and works with its vendors, and requirements for doing business in Ontario.

UK Market
Richard Yarnell – Category Manager, Beer & Cider at Mitchells & Butlers will discuss recent trends in the UK’s pub trade and how his company is using American craft beers to help satisfy demand among consumers for speciality crafted products, within one of the largest pub companies in the UK. The discussion will include an overview of the UK industry as a whole and of Mitchells & Butlers, Richard’s employer, specifically. Richard will also talk about the resurgence of cask ale in the UK, and how a growing craft beer scene—of which American craft beers are a major part—is creating a stir in the UK pub trade, including sales trends, branding & case studies. Mitchells & Butlers is the leading operator of restaurants and pubs in the UK, with over 1,600 businesses.
